It’s Nice on My Porch

Some years ago, my wife and I rescued a pit bull, Hank. Then there were two more. Now we had a pack of pit bulls. Our neighbors were terrified.

Time went by, and so did our rescues.

My youngest daughter moved home. She has a French bulldog. Bean. He becomes the center of the universe. Then there is Betsy. Betsy is a Boston terrier. Now I have to show Bean that I have a few pieces of Betsy’s kibble to put into his bowl before he will eat.

Two universes now.

My house is very modest and small. Perfect for me. I mow my lawn, and my wife makes everything look nice. We have screened porches on the front of the house and one off the back. Makes for a nice cross draft on days when the temperature allows.

I have those party lights that, it seems, are everywhere now. I love them. Did I mention that I have very nice speakers on my screened porches? Doesn’t matter.

At my salon, we get all the magazines about travel and fashion and food. Including People magazine. I have no idea who most of the people are anymore. That may be a blessing.

Betsy is asleep beside me. It’s nice on my porch.
